I’m trying to run one of my old Visual Basic 6/DirectDraw7 games on my Vista x64 OS, and I’m also getting the “Assisted ActiveX cannot create object” error. Tried reinstalling VB6, same error. When Itrying to run it from a suggestion in VB6, it tells my vision that “DirectX 7 for Visual Basic Type Library” is missing (dx7vb.dll). I have the latest DirectX SDK. I tried to help you install the 9 directx.0c redistributables, but the following does nothing and says the installation was successful with an error message comparable to Dx.DirectDrawCreate(“”). Anyone have unique ideas?

The latest SDK no longer includes DX7 or DX8 components. Because this DLL is a type library, you must also register some items on your system. You can use

directx 7 vista

This may require additional steps performed by traditional DX7 redistributables, but to be honest I know with some degree of certainty that this predates my managed use Use of DX.

When I try to run “regsvr32 dx7vb.Is dll” explain I have the wrong dll for my Windows version (x86/x64). I tried to find a nice 64-bit version of dx7vb.dll but couldn’t find it.
